There is now a place at Infinite for 2,000 students

We're opening new virtual classrooms, from Kaitaia to Invercargill. Same live classes, five days a week.

We're very thrilled to announce that the Charter School Agency has signed a variation to our charter agreement allowing Infinite to enrol up to 2,000 students, and these places are open now, for Term 1, 2027 start. This growth comes with more virtual classrooms, more specialist teachers, and more opportunities for students to learn.

‍

What the new classrooms make possible

From 2027 we are opening more classrooms and running more specialised courses that were not viable before. Year 13 also opens alongside Years 9 to 12.

We are also growing the teams around those virtual classrooms. Our learning support and gifted and talented teams are expanding. We are creating new teaching roles and bringing in expertise, including data analysts who track how every student is progressing.

Two new leadership roles start with the growth as well, including a Dean of Ethical Digital Fluency, for how students use technology in their learning, and a Dean of Assessment and Examinations, to hold the rigour of our assessment as we grow.

"We didn't set out to become a bigger school," says Saira Boyle, Principal of Aotearoa Infinite Academy. "We set out to answer a simpler question: what would it take to give every student more of what's already working here? And one of the most exciting answers is choice."

If you are interested in joining our team, check the available roles on our careers page.

For Our Current Infinite Community

Nothing about the current students' week changes. The same live classes continue with the same teachers, in the same homeroom, and led by the same pastoral team.

"New staff are coming in ahead of new students, not behind them," Boyle says. "The programmes your child already benefits from are the ones we're scaling up, not scaling back to make room for something else."

If anything, the biggest change from this growth will be students getting more from their time at Infinite with more opportunities to grow in their classes and activities.

Join the Village

Places are open now for Term 1, 2027. There is no tuition fee, and there are no entry criteria or selection tests. All our students need is a laptop and a stable internet connection, and they can take their classes from anywhere in New Zealand.

You can download the prospectus for comprehensive information about our school. If you want to kick-start the application process, enquire through our website, complete the enrolment form, so we can confirm your offer of a place. Mid-year transfers are also possible where we have room.

If you want to learn more about Infinite and how schooling works, you can join our next online Info Night on Thursday, 24 September, with Penelope Barton, Saira Boyle, and the rest of the Infinite team.

The Infinite Goal

"We want an education system where a student's outcomes and their geography are uncorrelated," says Penelope Barton, CEO of Crimson Academies. "A student in a small town should have the same opportunities as a student in a city with several schools to choose from," says our CEO. And we are co-creating this dream to be a reality with you.

"This isn't a leap into the untested. It's an investment in doing more of what our current results already prove is right, while we build new systems and strategies that make the whole experience even better for the families already here, not just the ones still to come," Boyle states.

If you've been rethinking how education and learning will work for you, come and see what school can be at Infinite.
